Her books are suitable for all ages, since she writes with her grandchildren in mind. Paula VanderMey is a Michigan author that graduated from Grand Valley State University. She graduated with a BS degree and English major. She is a former elementary school teacher. She has lived in the Newberry area since 1998. She has three published books and three more awaiting final proofing. Her books are suitable for all ages, since she writes with her grandchildren in mind. She is also a Tai Chi instructor and has taught over most of the Central and Eastern Upper Peninsula, as well as, working in one of the local stores.  Her books cover a wide variety of genres, including: Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction, Children's Fiction, Young Adult, Fantasy, Tai Chi Instuctional Book.

She has two grown children and two grandsons. She enjoys writing, reading, working in her yard, teaching Tai Chi, visiting with friends, and designing and sewing fashion clothing. She also designed both her house downstate and the one she now calls home. She has traveled extensively both in the U.S. and abroad, including Singapore and China.

The author is currently working on the fifth, and probably last, book in the Kaibab series. She has an idea for a new series and wants to begin that one. That does not, however, preclude a return to the deep mountain at a future time
