Tai Chi Instructional Book
Inspiration for Tai Chi
I've been teaching Tai Chi in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since February 1999. I've taught from Munising to Sault Ste. Marie and from Manistique to DeTour Village and towns in between. I utilized this knowledge to put together my Tai Chi Instructional Book.
It all began when one of my senior students said she really liked my video, but it didn't hold still so she could check her move. Knowing I'm a writer, she asked if I'd write a book with pictures to help her. I agreed thinking it would be easy, after all, I was teaching 12 classes a week.
Three months later the written part was done. It's so much easier to do the moves than to write them down. Having my picture taken while doing the moves was much harder. Then I had to correctly coordinate the pictures with the text. My nephew Richard is an advanced computer teacher and he did the actual assembly of the Tai Chi Instructional Book.
Tai Chi Instructional Book | Tai Chi Yang Style Form | Step by Step Tai Chi Full Color Book
The book covers the entire long form of the Yang style form. Tai Chi is NOT an Eastern religion, it IS a martial art.
The book begins with some fun and easy warm-ups and an explanation of basic moves that you will use continually throughout the form.
Each section begins with a list of the moves. It then breaks the form into groups of 3-5 moves. I give approximate lengths of time for learning each group, based on 30 minutes a day of practice. Some may have more time to practice, others less.
Each move is written out step-by-step with full-color photos to check you position.
